Scenario
You are on a placement in the marketing department of Tower Hamlets College.
The department has asked you to create a blog for prospective students interested in media (and in particular animation) that is engaging and informative about the developments in animation, its uses and techniques.


Task 1
Write a blog post about these topics:

·       Animation technology including early devices such as the Phenakistoscope, Zoetrope, Praxinoscope, Zoopraxinoscope, Kinetoscope, and Cinematograph.
·       Developments in technology such as translucent paper, sound, the standardisation of film (the frame rates), computer drawing software, CGI and performance capture
·       How Animation works with reference to:
the persistence of vision and beta movement, frame rates (12 fps animation, 24 fps film and 25 fps television), the suspension of disbelief
·       The work of a key animator from the pre-digital era of animation (e.g. Walt Disney, Jan Svankmajer, Willis O’Brien, Ray Harryhausen, Len Lye)
·       The work of a key animator from the post-digital era (e.g. John Lasseter, the Quay Brothers, Tim Burton, Nick Park.
